I was bummed to hear on NPR this morning that, Doris Haddock, aka Granny D, died yesterday at age 100. At age 89, Haddock walked across the United States to advocate for campaign finance reform legislation. The walk was featured in the documentary, “Granny D Goes to Washington” and in the years following her walk, at age 94, Haddock ran an unsuccessful though highly inspiring campaign for the New Hampshire senate seat becoming one of the oldest major-party candidate to ever campaign for the U.S Senate.
If you get a chance check out the terrific documentary, “Granny D Goes to Washington” or pick up one of Granny D’s books at your local library or bookseller.
